New Acquisition: Arthur Mathews' The Bathers
Centered around the new acquisition, The Bathers (a.k.a. Nudes in Landscape), by Arthur F. Matthews, this exhibition highlights the legacy of one of California's earliest followers of the California Arts and Crafts Movement. Exhibited alongside work by his wife and artistic partner, Lucia Kleinhans Mathews, New Acquisition: Arthur Matthews' The Bathers celebrates Matthews' work from the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Monterey Museum of Art is honored to present this landmark acquisition and exhibition, recognizing one of California's most influential painters, art educators, and advocates.
