Current Exhibitions

Comprised of works from the Museum's permanent collection, this exhibition seeks to explore the evolution and elevation of the culture of craft in Monterey over the last 50 years. Historically, craft has been thought of as secondary to fine art, mainly due to many of the art forms' origins as women's work and the perceived functionality of the craft. With a list of works comprised of non-traditional mediums, including textiles, collage, and ceramics, these pieces represent the progress of these mediums in the artistic canon.
