A World Apart: Big Sur in the Mid-century explores the work of artists who found respite and community along Big Sur’s dramatic coastline between the 1950s and 1970s. Featuring historically underrecognized artists working across diverse mediums, the exhibition brings together artworks and archival material from Monterey Museum of Art’s permanent collection and beyond, many on view for the first time.

The catalogue includes a foreword by Monterey Museum of Art Executive Director Corey Madden, an essay by guest curator Wendy Van Wyck Good, and a comprehensive list of the exhibited artwork.
