Seeing Chicanx: The Durón Family Collection

Exhibition Catalogue, Second Edition

Drawn from the private collection of Armando and Mary Salinas Durón, Seeing Chicanx: The Durón Family Collection offers a vibrant portrayal of the Los Angeles region's Chicanx art scene to provide a visual history of the historic Chicano Movement (1965–1980) and the community’s creative vitality in California.

Curated by Professor Karen Mary Davalos, this exhibition was first presented by Monterey Museum of Art (January 18 – April 28, 2024) and is now on view at the Laband Gallery, Loyola Marymount University (September 25 – December 6, 2025).

The catalogue includes a foreword by Monterey Museum of Art Executive Director Corey Madden, essays by Armando Durón and Karen Mary Davalos, and a large selection of the exhibited artwork and ephemera.

The second edition Seeing Chicanx: The Durón Family Collection catalogue was generously supported by Raúl and Maria Salinas.
