Monterey, CA – MINIATURES, the Monterey Museum of Art’s popular fundraising exhibition opens this year on Thursday, November 16, with the Museum’s monthly Third Thursday Open House, from 5 to 7 pm. Third Thursday is sponsored by Scudder Roofing with wines by Blackstone Winery and hors d’oeuvres by Grapes of Wrath.
On display will be a wide variety of miniature artwork donated by over 300 Monterey Bay Area artists. Visitors will have a chance to win a fantastic original work of art while helping to support the Monterey Museum of Art. Patrons can buy a raffle ticket for $5 each or a sheet of 7 for $30 and drop the ticket(s) in the box next to the miniature(s) of their choice. Winning tickets are drawn the first week of January 2007 and winners are notified within two weeks.
Artists participating in Miniatures include Tracey Adams, Johnny Apodaca, Peter K. Brooks, Martha Casanave, Stefani Esta, Erin Gafill, Alex Gonzales, Andrea Johnson, David Ligare, Loran List, Susan Manchester, Barry Masteller, Gordon Mortenson, Elizabeth Murray, Tom O’Neal, Robin V. Robinson, Paul Roehl, Ryuijie, Nancy Sevier, William Stone Jr., Kim Weston, Chris Winfield, Rodney Winfield and others.

Third Thursday is open to the public and admission is FREE!

The Monterey Museum of Art was established in 1959 as a chapter of the American Federation of the Arts. The Museum collects, preserves and interprets American art, in particular the work of artists active on the Monterey Peninsula and the West Coast, and Asian art. The permanent collection of 15,000 paintings, photographs, works on paper includes significant holdings of California paintings by artists such as Armin Hansen, William F. Ritschel, Gottardo Piazzoni, and world-renowned photographers including Edward Weston and Ansel Adams.
