MONTEREY, CA. The Monterey Museum of Art presents Third Thursday, April 20, 2006, from 5-7 pm. This popular open house offers free admission and a lively atmosphere where arts patrons, young professionals, students, and out town visitors enjoy light hors d’oeuvres and refreshments. This month’s Third Thursday is sponsored by the City of Monterey and Tarpy’s and features wines provided by Blackstone Winery.
This Third Thursday will feature a jazz ensemble group consisting of City employees. For this special Third Thursday, Colton Hall, directly across from the Monterey Museum of Art, will also be open. Built to serve as a public school and town meeting hall, California's first Constitution was drafted in this historic site in October, 1849. Colton Hall is a landmark in the City of Monterey, once the Capital of Alta California.
Currently on display in the Work Gallery is In Celebration of Light: Photographs from the Collection of Cherye R. and James F. Pierce. This extraordinary collection of more than 125 works by world famous photographers is concluding its national tour in Monterey.
