Monterey Museum of Art Friends of the Museum Present Warren Chang: Narrative Paintings
A lecture and book signing by highly acclaimed realism painter, Warren Chang
MONTEREY, CA—The Monterey Museum of Art’s (MMA) Friends of the Museum will present a lecture by acclaimed realism painter, Warren Chang titled Narrative Paintings, Wednesday, September 12, 2012, 10:30 am at the MMA La Mirada, 720 Via Mirada, Monterey. The artist will sign his book of the same title following the lecture. Free admission to Friends of the Museum, $10 MMA Members, $15 Non-members. www.montereyart.org
Warren Chang evokes mood and emotion in his work through a manipulation of light, and the use of close value relationships and subdued color. He will talk about these technical achievements and of capturing his subjects in natural environments, whether biographical interiors or outdoor genre paintings of the fieldworkers of Monterey County where he grew up.
Warren Chang graduated with honors from the Art Center College of Design where he earned a B.F.A. in illustration. He thrived for two decades as an award-winning illustrator in California and New York, before transitioning to a career as a fine artist starting in the year 2000. Now based in his hometown of Monterey, he is a teacher and currently affiliated with San Francisco’s Academy of Art University
Friends of the Museum is an auxiliary organization of the Monterey Museum of Art, whose mission is to foster an appreciation for the visual arts through volunteer service, fundraising and programs.
