Family Day at the Monterey Museum of Art

Explore, create and play in the galleries while discovering the world of art.
Admission is free.

Monterey, Calif. – The Monterey Museum of Art (MMA) invites families to explore, create and play in the galleries while discovering the world of art. Admission is free on Saturday, April 21, 11 am to 4 pm, at the Monterey Museum of Art-La Mirada located at 720 Via Mirada, Monterey.

As part of the MMA’s commitment to reaching children and families throughout the community, the Museum is offering a full slate of activities for all ages designed for fun, learning and sharing time together. This Family Day is inspired by California Impressionism and Arline Fisch: Sea Jellies; two exhibitions currently on view at the MMA La Mirada. Family Day activities include:

  • Bringing California Art to Life—the Museum’s creative space for adults and kids— by making a paper collage for display or to take home.
  • Hearing stories about art and nature during the Story Circle at 11:30 am and 1 pm.
  • Crafting your own sea jelly out of a variety of silly materials.
  • Sketching in the gardens and watching an artist at work to learn tips for creating a personal masterpiece.
  • Searching the galleries and gardens to find “hidden” shapes and images on a scavenger hunt.
