Monterey Museum of Art offers Summer of Art Camps for Kids
From Lego Workshops and Fashion Design to Drawing, Painting and Printmaking
Monterey, CA – The Monterey Museum of Art (MMA) is pleased to announce its slate of summer visual art camps and classes for children ages five to twelve from June 11 to July 20, 2012 at the MMA Pacific Street located at 559 Pacific Street, Monterey. Five-day Camps
Pre-engineering with LEGO for ages 5-7 years
June 11-15 and July 23-27, 9 am-Noon
$135 MMA Members, $165 Non-members
This camp encourages young students to let their imaginations go wild with over 100,000 pieces of LEGO. They will design projects such as boats, bridges, mazes and motorized cars while exploring endless creative possibilities
Engineering Fundamentals with LEGO for ages 8-10 years
June 11-15 and July 23-27, 1-4 pm
$135 MMA Members, $165 Non-members
This camp will teach students about real-world concepts presented in physics, engineering and architecture through the building of arch bridges, catapults, motorized machines and other projects of the imagination.
Lego Camps will be conducted by Play-Well TEKnologies instructors and are suitable for LEGO novices to fanatic fans of the popular building toy. Students attending in June are welcome to attend again in July to continue their learning and experience new projects.

Fashion Passion for ages 6-12 years
June 20-22, 1-3 pm

Imagine and design colorful fashion illustrations using drawing, painting and collage techniques.
Drawing, Painting and Printmaking for ages 6-12 years
June 27-29, 1-3 pm
MMA Members $75, Non-members $105
Inspired by works in MMA galleries, create drawings, paintings and prints using a variety of materials, tools and techniques.
Sculpture for ages 6-12 years
July 11-13, 1-3 pm
$75 MMA Members, $105 Non-members
Students will have the opportunity to look August Rodin’s Thinker in the eye and explore other iconic works before creating their own three dimensional masterpiece.
Book Design for ages 6-12 years
July 18-20, 1-3 pm
$75 MMA Members, $105 Non-members
Learn basic bookmaking techniques while designing and illustrating a personal art book using a variety of materials.
Recycled Treehouses for ages 6-12 years
August 1-3, 1-3 pm
$75 MMA Members, $105 Non-members
Design and construct a mini treehouse, space station or fairy cottage using found objects and traditional materials.
