Artist Statement

I want to paint a fractured space that is conceived by its process; a contemporary, incremental, and measured accumulation of authentic “mark making.” My paintings are comprised of eight layers equally, each of which is a binary grid of same-sized circles.

The circle enjoys references to the cell, the Ben-Day dot, and the pixel. Think: Pointillism under magnification.

Predetermined color sequences are assigned a specific circle and are “woven” together through the layering. Spatial effects as (visual) documentation of paintings’ process.
