When was the last time you took a photo? Since photography was invented in the 19th century, it has evolved into a widespread art form. Many of us have cameras in our phones in the twenty-first century, making us all photographers. These selections from our photography collection shown in Dynamic Range emphasize regional photographers such as Ansel Adams, Imogen Cunningham, and Edward Weston. They focused on attention on details in nature and landscapes in sharp focus. Also included are contemporary photographers such as Holly Roberts, Ryuijie, and Ulrich Tillman, who use experimental subjects and processes. Throughout the gallery, we present Photo Tips used by these artists to help you think more carefully about your own photographs, whether you take them with a traditional camera or a Smartphone.

Generously supported by the Arts Council for Monterey County and the Robert and Audrey Talbott Foundation
