Alan Parker Revisited

1128_Final_RenditionFriday, May 3 – Sunday, June 23, 2019

Alan Dean Parker (1916 – 1993) came to the Monterey Peninsula in 1950 with his wife Beatrice from their native Nebraska. Here, at their home atop the Carmel Highlands, Alan painted full time except when teaching painting and conducting seminars in aesthetics at the University of California, Santa Cruz. Parker was featured in a multi-media retrospective exhibition at the Monterey Museum of Art’s Frank Work Gallery in 1977.  In 1988 Parker left the Monterey Peninsula for a retirement village in Oregon before dying in 1993.  This new exhibition features paintings from his final active years as well as earlier works that illustrate the direction of his career, many of which have never been exhibited before.  “Alan Parker Revisited” is curated by collector, Monterey resident, and longtime friend of the artist Hugo Bianchini.
