Overview: This exhibition examines the parallel lives and artistic accomplishments of the Armin Hansen and William F. Ritschel, two preeminent artists who defined California landscape painting. In this exhibition, the Monterey Museum of Art will reconsider the contribution of these two contemporaries in rich visual relationships and a newly reinterpreted historical and biographical context. Supported in part by a Grant in Memory of Louise Bougie Beland from the John H. Marble Endowment Fund Administered by the Community Foundation for Monterey County, a grant from the David and Lucile Packard Foundation with Sponsorship from Alvarez Technology Group, Inc. |
