Salon Jane: The Ethereal Zone is presented by the Monterey Museum of Art during the 2018 Year of the Woman schedule of exhibitions from September 20 –November 26, 2018.

During their May 7 panel discussion Salon Jane artists will talk about their individual experiences as artists and how their unique artistic challenges advance them toward the future. They will also discuss how meeting regularly as a group offers a sense of community while deepening individual artistic growth and innovation. Some will show images of their work.

Salon Jane is composed of six women in the Monterey Peninsula who formed a group in 2014 to support one another as artists.
Although all of these women use photography in their art, the finished products are remarkably diverse. From aerial to underwater, abstract to representational, digital to darkroom, wall art to books, the work produced by these artists is wide ranging. Their diversity is an asset for promoting each artist’s strong sense of individuality.
The differences among our members include careers, ages, and backgrounds, but each member of Salon Jane shares a passion for expressing her deepest concerns through art. The group meets quarterly to share work and plan exhibitions and educational adventures.
Join us for a three-part lecture series honoring women who have made their mark in the creative arts. Local women will be featured in one-hour lectures about their chosen subjects. Visitors are welcome to bring food and drinks during this lunchtime lecture series.
