Docent Program

Monterey Museum of Art Docents share a passion for art and art education.

Monterey Museum of Art Tour Docents assist visitors’ understanding and appreciation of the Museum’s collection by encouraging thought-provoking dialogue and by providing accurate, precise information. Tour Docents help visitors develop interpretations of works by providing new ways of seeing and thinking about art.

MMA Events Docent Requirements:

  • Commit to 12 hours of service per year
  • Come to once-monthly Docent Council meetings
  • Obtain a Livescan background check, which costs a total of $37
  • Pay an annual Docent Dues of $25
  • Become a member of the Museum
