Celebrating the rich artistic heritage of Central California, the Monterey Museum of Art offers exceptional collections of early California painting, photography, and contemporary art in two unique historic settings. The Museum has significant collections of work by Armin Hansen, William Ritschel, Ansel Adams, and Edward Weston. Our collections are supplemented by year-round exhibitions, lectures, classes, symposia, and travel opportunities. Whether you’re viewing the galleries at MMA Pacific Street or strolling the gardens at MMA La Mirada, there’s always something new and wonderful to see.

       MMA Pacific Street

MMA Pacific Street is located across from historic Colton Hall in the heart of Old Monterey. The Museum features eight galleries devoted to exhibitions of American art, early California painting, photography, and contemporary art. Classes, workshops, and lectures are held in the Buck Education Center. An art reference library is available for visitors by appointment.
      MMA La Mirada

MMA La Mirada is the city’s crown jewel with its magnificent gardens surrounded by picturesque stone walls. Located in one of Monterey's oldest neighborhoods, La Mirada began as a modest stone adobe during the Mexican Period. It was later remodeled into an elegant home and estate where the great stars of the silent film era were entertained.

Today visitors will experience the same charming, exquisitely furnished home with its ambiance of early California. The Dart Wing, designed by renowned architect Charles Moore, features four breathtaking galleries with spectacular views of the gardens and Monterey Bay.
